The current technologies used in our solutions are:

  • Microsoft .NET 3.5 and 4.0 Framework
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012, and SQL CE
  • ClickOnce (desktop deployment)
  • HTML5

Microsoft .NET 3.5 and 4.0 Framework

Microsoft .NET Framework is a Microsoft platform for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes. The .NET Framework provides our technology experts the comprehensive and consistent programming model and tools to develop sophisticated solutions with high quality and security in mind.

      Microsoft .NET Framework consists of:

  • Common Language Runtime – provides an abstraction layer over the operating system
  • Base Class Libraries – pre-built code for common low-level programming tasks
  • Development frameworks and technologies – reusable, customizable solutions for larger programming tasks

Insurance Technologies has chosen .NET Framework as the platform for delivering technology so we can build sophisticated, visually stunning and secure applications using a common set of tools and languages for web, desktop and mobile device implementation.

Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012

Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 provide the server operating system platform architecture and functionality needed to build ForeSight™ and FireLight® applications. It is the underlying foundation of applications, network, documentation, support resources and services providing our team a full-function operating system with advanced features. Windows Server allows the capabilities to share files, act as an application server, authenticate users, enhanced monitoring, host web applications, Active Directory and much more.

SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012, and SQL CE

With the use of SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012, Insurance Technologies can provide solutions with close to zero downtime, advanced database, and data management. SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012 are also utilized for structured and semi-structured data support. Handheld device users need to be able to synchronize with a main data store when most convenient. With SQL Compact Edition (CE), a traveling data store can be built that displays and runs on a variety of devices. SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012 features enhanced functionality and capabilities of Insurance Technologies' ForeSight™ and FireLight® solutions.

ClickOnce

Insurance Technologies uses ClickOnce Deployment Technology for ForeSight™, which enables the creation of self-updating Windows-based applications that can be installed and run with minimal user interaction, even on a limited-rights machine. Once installed, ClickOnce is used to ensure that the application is updated and to maintain Web service calls for bi-directional synchronization of user data.

ForeSight™ deployment and updates are provided automatically via CD or Web download, providing a quick and painless user installation experience.

In-Force through Web Services Technology

A variety of administration systems can be supported in a single ForeSight™ implementation by using web services technologies. Web services are used to retrieve policy data from back-end administration servers. This could be directly to an administration server or to a “broker/middle-man” server that may involve retrieval of data from multiple admin servers, depending on the product selected.

Our in-force illustration system in ForeSight™ allows wide flexibility for illustrating “what if” scenarios and produces accurate results based on detailed policy history information.

Existing policy data can be imported from policy administration (via ACORD XML or other proprietary transaction), or input into ForeSight™ or FireLight® by the user.

HTML5

HTML5 introduces many new tags and enhancements for a wide range of features including form controls, APIs, multimedia, structure, database support and faster processing, providing more powerful and efficient applications along with superior user experience.

By utilizing HTML5, Insurance Technologies' applications can support high-quality drawings, charts and animation, and many other types of rich media content demanded by users without relying on 3rd party plugins or apps. HTML5 provides a new SQL-based database API that can be used for storing data locally. This allows for the ability to save structured data client-side using a real SQL database. The temporarily stored data can then be easily accessed to support the Web application and can even be accessed when the client is disconnected for a short period of time, increasing system efficiency.
